Semestra

On a phone

What Semestra does on a phone, and how to add it to your home screen.

Semestra is built for a computer. On a phone (a screen narrower than 768 px, or a phone turned sideways) it opens a smaller app with a tab bar at the bottom, made for checking your day, keeping up with tasks and asking Sem.

What is on the phone

  • Today: today's classes and events, and the tasks that are overdue or due in the next 7 days.
  • Tasks: your tasks by due date. The + button adds a task, with its due date, priority, course and flag set right away. Tap a task to edit or delete it.
  • Sem: everything Sem does on a computer, including confirmation cards, @ references, / skills and attachments.
  • More: switch between programs, open settings, and sign out.

The phone app opens on Today, or on Tasks or Sem if you chose one of them under Settings → Preferences → Navigation → Default page. Other start pages only apply on a computer.

Grades, the calendar, files and imports stay on a computer. Opening one of their links on a phone shows a note and a button back to Today. Links work on both: the same address opens the phone version on a phone and the full page on a computer.

Add it to your home screen

Semestra can be added to the home screen and then opens full screen, without the browser bar.

  • iPhone (Safari): tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. The home screen app keeps its own sign-in, so sign in once more inside it.
  • Android (Chrome): open the ⋮ menu and tap Add to Home screen or Install app.

An iPad is wide enough for the full version, so there the home screen app opens the same pages as on a computer. On iPhone and iPad, notifications only work in the home screen app.
